Congo Newsletters

June 2009

We hope your summer has been great so far.  The Congo Homecoming has a different date this year, due to the Perry County Fair being held that week.  The date for the 19th annual Homecoming is July 11, 2009, from 11:00am - ?, in the Church yard.  Of course this will be a potluck dinner, so bring your favorite dish for everyone to sample and your favorite lawn chair.
Entertainment, prizes, and games will be provided throughout the day.
We would like to invite the families of our loved ones to attend our event.  Our attendance is down.  It may be due to the fact many of the attendees have passed on since the first Homecoming in 1990 and the economy is failing, but we would like to continue to hold the event every year.  There are group pictures available of the first one, taken by Tina Ciber of Congo.
For some of you that did not attend last year, things may look a little different.  The Church has new carpet and linoleum, which was installed last year.  There is also a wheel chair ramp to the shelter house, that has been installed, as well as a railing.
The Shelter House is available for different occasions.  There is heating and cooling available as well for your comfort.  We only ask for a donation, to help maintain the grounds.  The long term goal is to install a kitchenette and water to the already existing facility.
Bricks are available on the Memorial Wall.  They are $30.00.  If your family would like to purchase one, please contact 740-347-9224 for more information.
The Haunted Forest will be held again this year on October 2nd and 3rd.  The volunteers love to have a ghoulish time scaring you.  Pictures of the event can be viewed, plus many other articles of past and present events pertaining to Congo on the website designed by Paul Reside at .  Please feel free to visit this site and add your comments or news that you may have.
The Citizens for Congo is looking forward to seeing you, once again this year.  So, take a break from the everyday humdrum, and plan on spending the day with us.  Come to the little entity, located in the rolling hills of beautiful, southern Perry County, Ohio, that we call home, Congo.
Remember all roads lead to Congo.
